Elvis Chummar is a senior journalist with over two decades of experience in broadsheet newspapers and broadcast media in India and the Gulf region, of which 19 years of his professional experience is based in Dubai's journalism field. He is the first foreign media journalist to receive the prestigious golden visa of the UAE Government. Elvis holds the record for hosting 800 episodes of Gulf TV Show in 16 years. He was the President of Indian Media Forum (IMF) UAE, the first media fraternity for expatriate Indian journalists outside the country and Founder of `Kerala Union of Working Journalists’ (KUWJ) Middle East Unit.
Stationed in Dubai, Chummar is currently the Editorial Head of the leading South Indian Television Channel JAIHIND TV, and heads its Middle East operations. Earlier, he worked with Malayala Manorama and other media houses in Dubai and India. He is now one of the senior visual media journalists working in the Gulf region for Kerala based Malayalam television channels. Mr. Chummar extensively covers news stories, happenings and events pertaining to the Non-Resident Indian Community in the region. He has reported numerous international conferences and Arab Summits held in more than 21 foreign countries.
He is also the producer and presenter of JAIHIND TV’s `Middle East this Week’ the most popular weekly news round-up show in Malayalam from the region. Chummar launched the news round-up program `First Gulf Based News & Current Affairs Programme’ in 2008 and has been telecasting it successfully for the past 16 years continuously till date. This program achieved a milestone of over 800 episodes from Middle East, the first record that no other language TV journalists could achieve.
Hailing from Trissur District of Kerala, India, Chummar is among the most influential Keralite journalists in the Gulf with a strong presence in the social media sphere.
For almost two years, Jaihind TV represented by Elvis Chummar is the only foreign media channel that continues to share uninterrupted daily Covid updates of the UAE on news and other social media formats to date.
He has been recognized with more than 19 awards and accolades for his `Middle East this Week’ program alone. He has also won numerous awards including the best TV Journalist, The Best Investigative Rreporter and The Best TV Presenter, The Best Gulf TV Show Awards constituted by different organizations. He also has been honored with special awards from several government authorities and departments of the UAE.

Jaihind TV Middle East Region (Oct 2008 – Present)
Elvis Chummar heads the overall operations (news, current affairs programmes and production) for Jaihind TV in the Middle East. His key responsibilities include editorial policy planning and strategy besides recruitment, training and management of staff across the region. He started the Middle East operations of the channel in 2008, the programmes that include are ‘Middle East News Bulletin’ - a 30-minute daily news programme and ‘Middle East This Week (METW)’ - a 30-minute weekly roundup of news and current affairs from the region. METW is the longest running Gulf-based news and current affairs Indian television show scripted and anchored by a single person. This program achieved a milestone of 690 episodes from Middle East, the first record of its kind that no other language TV journalists could achieve. This show has received over 19 regional and international awards till date.

Malayala Manorama (Jan 2004 - Sep 2008)
Malayala Manorama is the No.1 largest daily of India . Chummar handled the news reporting for Malayala Manorama’s print and online editions, breaking news stories related to Indian diaspora in the Gulf region. He was actively involved in the launch of Dubai and Bahrain editions of the newspaper and contributed to the news stories for Malayala Manorama’s News Channel in Dubai. Many of Malayala Manorama’s mega events that were held in Dubai were organized by Elvis Chummar.

Jeevan TV (2002 - 2004)
Elvis Chummar headed the overall operations (news, current affairs programmes and production) for Jeevan TV in the Middle East which included the production of the daily news bulletin for the channel. He was actively involved in the launch of the channel in the Gulf region and managed the recruitment and training of editorial staff in the region.
